First edition. Adolf Behn describes the process of drawing on the lithographic stone, the tools and equipment needed, and discusses techniques. He presents a portfolio of thirty-seven full-page lithographs, with technical notes about each print, to illustrate his points. The section on printing from the stone is written by Lawrence Barrett; this section, illustrated with fifty-five drawings, includes the printing of stone from start to finish, etching and printing techniques, faults and remedies, and tools and equipnment. A book of interest to both the practicing artist and the print collector. Dust jacket rubbed at edges with wear at spine ends. Internal tape repair of jacket.
