Includes eight illustrations by "Hans" (believed to be Hans Loyd Hoff), and additional illustrations stamped on the front and back covers. Each copy signed by William Saroyan. In addition, this copy is inscribed on a blank page, "For Mrs. L.A. Bassana, with the sincere hope that these little American fables will be pleasing to her. William Saroyan. S.F. Feb. 1939."
