Reprint of the first edition (SABIN 100940), of which this one is 1 of 27 copies printed on Japanese Vellum. With three folding plates and one tipped in map of Panama. Very famous work on early America. Some minor splotching on front cover, otherwise a fine, tight copy.

With a superb three page introduction by A. Edward Newton dated October 16th, 1923 (Fleck D.11). No limitation given but a very small printing. About 100 pages with reproductions of many of the proof sheets along with Boswell's annotations. Adams was a noted Buffalo book collector whose collection was purchased by Donald and Mary Hyde. Covers stained along edges of covers and edges of preliminary and end pages.
