Text in Portuguese, French and English. A detailed description of an anonymous Portuguese nautical chart from the fifteenth century. With a table analyzing the chart and an index. This edition comes with a color fold out facsimile of the chart mounted on linen. Slipcase shows some soiling and staining to the back panel. The books wrappers are slightly soiled with some wrinkling and bumping to the corners.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau,(1712 - 1778) was a Genevan philosopher of the Enlightenment whose political ideas influenced the French Revolution. With his Confessions and other writings, he practically invented modern autobiography. Edmond Hédouin (1820- 1889) was a French painter,lithographer and illustrator. Beautiful Sangorski & Sutcliffe binding. Slipcase worn at the extremites and little faded.
